I began working for BECRU
in October of 2003. I am a 1998 graduate of UAF with a B.S.
in Natural Resources Management, Forestry Option. I enjoy
working in the outdoors and observing the varied interactions of
the boreal ecosystem. My biggest hobby would have to be skijoring,
though I also enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, building, yard work,
and just about anything else that gets me outside.
As the BECRU research technician I am responsible for the collection
of all climate and vegetation data from the LTER core sites. Some
of the data collected include incremental tree growth, seedling
counts, vegetation composition, litter fall weight, seed dispersal,
and many climate variables from soil temperature to PAR (photosynthetically
active radiation). These data is then added to our database
and made available via the web.
